Featured Speaker at Phoenix’s Equal Opportunity Brown Bag Luncheon
“Race, Gender and Presidential Politics”
Dr. Matthew C. Whitaker will examine the history and life of race and gender in the American political landscape, and America’s reluctance to engage in frank and sustained dialogue about these critical and often emotional topics. He will demonstrate that America’s tendency to exploit racial and gendered fears has been a fundamental organizing principle of American politics, and will examine how the current presidential election has influenced this historic mindset.
